Fri, 27 May 2016 17:45:47 -0400
Russian President Vladimir Putin signed several economic deals with Athens on Friday during a visit to Greece aimed at reinforcing a relationship with one of his few friends in the EU amid tensions with the West. The visit, Putin's first to the EU since December, comes at a low ebb in relations between Russia and Europe over the conflict in Ukraine that broke out in 2014, with sanctions still in force against Moscow. It also comes as Athens desperately seeks to come out of recession.

Fri, 27 May 2016 17:34:05 -0400
By Kylie MacLellan ISE-SHIMA, Japan (Reuters) - Former London mayor Boris Johnson could be Britain's next prime minister despite heading the campaign to leave the European Union, Prime Minister David Cameron said. Last year, Cameron, who has said he will not stand for a third term at a national election due in 2020, cited Johnson, along with Home Secretary Theresa May and Chancellor George Osborne, as potential successors. Cameron and Johnson now find themselves rivals on opposing sides of an increasingly bitter debate ahead of Britain's June 23 referendum on EU membership.

Trump rules out presidential debate with Sanders
Fri, 27 May 2016 17:30:20 -0400
By Emily Stephenson FRESNO, Calif. (Reuters) - U.S. Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump on Friday ruled out a one-on-one debate with second-place Democratic hopeful Bernie Sanders, killing off a potentially high-ratings television spectacle. The suggested debate would have sidelined likely Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton but given Sanders a huge platform ahead of California's June 7 primary. A day after saying he would welcome a debate with Sanders, Trump called the idea "inappropriate" because as the Republican presumptive nominee he should only face the Democrats' final choice.
